To spread the Gospel,
and hence the genes
Of the apostles can still be seen
To prove that Jesus is supreme
We may not want to admit that
We are indirect descendants
Influenced by, and are dependent
On the men who sowed and planted
This is such a mystery
Men way back in history
Who should've faded from memory
Had faith that speaks to you and me
Even in our world today
We see some heroes of the faith
With whom we can readily relate
And hence much easier to imitate
"Imitate?", you ask, "But why?"
It's one thing that they are admired
But have you thought that, if they die,
Who would take their place in line?
Idolatrous, right? Close but not quite
If the focus is them, right
But we mimic their faith in Christ
Extend Christ Jesus' legacy
To this dead humanity
Through various fields of specialty
Next generation: who will they be?
