Be Still, My Soul

Be still, my soul, be still
Just wholly take hold
As God unfolds His will
For though you don't know
Why your road goes like so
You just grow in the hope
You're His own! Be still

Don't rattle, soul, in the battle
Just stay and be calm
In the stablest castle
Though nations attack
Both in rage and in packs
They'll always turn back
That's a fact! Don't rattle

Don't dread, oh soul, don't dread
Though you were a mess
You're a new-born from death
Though rumors will spread
'bout your tumors back then
Show that you forsook them
As a victor, don't dread!

Be anxious not, soul, 'coz of hunger
Though your earnings' under
Just one-third in number
Your needs are too simple
Compared to the Gospel
That's needed by people
Who stumble and blunder

Please, oh my soul, be in peace
Feel secure and endure
Rest assured you're released
Sure you're impure
But are cured and insured
From the fury deserved
But incurred on the Tree

King David said it much better:
"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" (Psalm 46:10)
